024 What Not To Care About
Hello Everybody!
Happy holidays! Hope you're having an amazing weekend! Here's your weekly Amazing Things & Ideas Newsletter. Find one original idea from my side followed by the List.
What Not To Care About
Things beyond one's control.
Those entities don't need any more attention than is accountably required.
Metaphorically, we have a tendency to want to stop the rising tides. We go to the beach and say to the vast waters, "Do not become a wave."
But does it help?
The waves are guided by the wind. We cannot stop the wind. The tides are governed by the gravitational force of objects in nature.
We cannot stop nature from it's course.
We cannot control what's not under our control.
Even spending a moment of thought on the matter is a big waste.
Even things that were under our control, but are no longer in our circle, there's no use of dwelling on them either.
For example, why moan over your failure in an examination after receiving the grades?
You made choices earlier, you wrote the exam, submitted it, that's your job done right there.
And now you were informed you failed.
So what?
You learn from it, understand why you failed, become conscious of the changes you need to make, and get on with the rest of your life.
Why dwell even a second?
Sometimes, what's not under our control is still our responsibility.
If your child gets injured during a football game, you rush to the hospital even though the thing that happened was not under your control.
But you don't need to be regretful.
I should have been there for my child. It's all my fault.
As long as there is something beyond control you're accountable for, take responsibility. But don't dwell.
Remember there is no use in telling the ocean to not produce waves. It will do what it is to do.
We only need to accept. And adapt to whatever nature presents us with.

Quote for the week:
"If what you have seems insufficient to you, then though you possess the world, you will yet be miserable." — Seneca
Will Smith on Advice:
"The thing I've learned over the years about advice is that no one can accurately predict the future, but we all think we can. So advice at its best is one person's limited perspective of the infinite possibilities before you. People's advice is based on their fears, their experiences, their prejudices, and at the end of the day, their advice is just that: it's theirs, not yours. When people give you advice, they're basing it on what they would do, what they can perceive, on what they think you can do..."
